Equal Marriage Illinois Champaign County

Equal Marriage Illinois Champaign County seeks to secure equal marriage rights for all Illinois families.  We are a chapter of a statewide partnership know as Equal Marriage Illinois. 

Equal Marriage Illinois is a joint collaborative project of Equality Illinois, Lambda Legal and the Roger Baldwin Foundation of the ACLU of Illinois. The project seeks to educate the community about the real harms faced by LGBT families denied the benefit of marriage protections. Along with partner organizations around the state, we are raising awareness among Illinoisans concerning this vital issue, through person-to-person contacts, canvassing and event-based outreach around the state.

Equal Marriage Illinois provides a unique opportunity for Illinois’ three major LGBT rights organizations to win over the hearts and minds of Illinoisans through coordinated positive public outreach. We believe, given the right information, the people of Illinois will recognize the need to ensure fairness to all citizens and will reject the denial of marriage protections to LGBT families. One of our goals is to collect 400,000 signatures statewide as a declaration of support for marriage equality:

“I believe all Illinois families, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and straight, should have equal access to the legal protections of marriage.”
